Bitfinex Verification Levels and the Lending Threshold
Bitfinex accounts are divided into four verification levels:

Per Bitfinex policy, accounts created after March 1, 2022 need at least Intermediate verification for Funding; accounts created before that fall under Basic Plus. Funding doesn't require Full verification — what Full adds is international bank transfer deposits and withdrawals.
Documents to Prepare Before Submission
Personal Identification (Two Documents)
Two valid, government-issued photo IDs (Bitfinex's individual verification guide gives examples such as a national ID card, passport, or driving license):
- First: your national ID card
- Second: a passport, driving license, or another government-issued photo ID (take a clear photo with the whole document in frame)
Proof of Address (Issued Within 90 Days, One Document)
- Must show your full name and current residential address, issued within the last 90 days
- Acceptable documents include utility bills, tax statements (such as a land value tax statement), insurance statements, and official residence registration records such as a household registration transcript — see the Bitfinex verification FAQ for the full list

Prepare a well-lit environment and follow the on-screen instructions.
Before verifying, please make sure:
- The address you enter matches the current address on your proof of address
- The document's issue date is within the last 90 days
Stage One: Account Registration and Two-Factor Authentication Setup
Go to the Bitfinex website or download the Bitfinex app, and fill in your email, username, password, and country of residence; if you have a referral code, enter it as well.

After completing the form, proceed to set up two-factor authentication (2FA). Open Google Authenticator, tap "+" to scan the QR code shown on screen (or paste the key), enter the resulting 6-digit code back into Bitfinex, then tap "Enable 2FA."
Once done, retrieve the confirmation email from Bitfinex and click the link to complete account creation.
For future logins, after entering your username and password, you'll also need to enter the 6-digit code from Google Authenticator.
Stage Two: Submitting Intermediate Verification Documents
You can choose Intermediate directly on the verification page without completing Basic Plus separately first; Intermediate also asks for everything Basic Plus does.
After logging in, click "Verification" to enter the verification center.
Choose to upgrade to Intermediate level.
Upload two government-issued documents. The first is your ID card (must be valid and government-issued; take a clear photo with the whole card in frame). The second is a passport, driving license, or another government-issued photo ID.
Taiwan ID cards have no expiration date, so in the validity field, select the last date available on the verification page.
Fill in your personal information in order, including name, date of birth, address, and phone number.
Complete the facial selfie verification (follow the on-screen instructions). No screenshot is provided for this step.
Upload your proof of address (issued within 90 days, showing your full name and current residential address).
Read through and complete the address verification step, then submit. Intermediate also requires a Financial Questionnaire and a signed KYC Declaration, and review starts only after every section has been submitted. According to Bitfinex, Intermediate verification mostly takes 2–3 business days, longer if information is incomplete or during busy periods. You will receive an email notification once approved.
Notes for Users in Taiwan
- Taiwan ID cards have no expiration date: select the last date available in the validity field.
- Second ID: use a passport, driving license, or another government-issued photo ID.

How long does review take?
Intermediate verification mostly takes 2–3 business days; it takes longer if information is incomplete or during busy periods. Go by Bitfinex's notification.
What if my application is rejected?
A document older than 90 days, or an address that doesn't match your proof, may lead to a request for more documents. Bitfinex's compliance team will email you to request what's needed; follow the instructions in that email — you can also upload the missing information on the verification page at any time.
Is Intermediate verification always required for Funding?
For accounts created after March 1, 2022, yes; accounts created before that fall under Basic Plus.
Is KYC safe?
This is a standard regulatory process required by the exchange. Kindo itself does not perform KYC or collect any identity documents—documents are submitted to Bitfinex only.
